Biographical / Historical

Withers Alexander Burress was born in 1894 in Richmond, Virginia, and graduated VMI in 1914. Burress went on to be U.S. Army officer from 1916 to 1954. He commanded the 100th Infantry Division and was the Commanding General, First Army. He died in 1977 in Arlignton, Virginia.
