Benjamin West Clinedinst papers

Correspondence, 1905-1931, between artist Benjamin West Clinedinst and various members of the Virginia Military Institute administration and Alumni Association. Much of it concerns Clinedinst's New Market Battle painting, which was unveiled at VMI in 1914 and hangs in VMI's Jackson Memorial Hall. The papers also include a subject file concerning the artist's painting of post-Civil War VMI faculty.
