A collection (10 items) of certificates and other items, primarily from the military career of Rice McNutt Youell, Class of 1914. Included are the citations for the Croix de Guerre and the Distinguished Service Cross, dating from his service in France during World War I.

Includes published history, "Twenty-Sixth Infantry in France, American Expeditionary Forces" (July 1919).

Biographical / Historical

World War I Record: Major, 26th Infantry, 1st Division, A.E.F. Severely wounded in action. Recommended for Major during the Meuse-Argonne battle, and received the promotion immediately. Awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, Croix de Guerre and Chevalier, Legion of Honour, and received one Corps Citation. Commanded vanguard of his Division in march into Germany.
