The World War I items include a German propanda flyer dropped from airplances over France shortly before the Armistice, "The German People Offer Peace", 1918; circular letter from King George V thanking U.S. soldiers - "...the people of the British Isles welcome you on your way to take your stand beside the Armies of many Nations...." (April 1918); GO 28-A, February 28, 1919, from General Pershing to AEF soldiers thanking them for their service. World War II era items include photographs.

Biographical / Historical
General Randolph Tucker Pendleton (b. 1889 d. 1973) was a career military officer. He graduated from the Virgnia Military Institute in 1908 and was commissioned in the Coast Artillery Corps in 1911. During World War I he was commanding officer of the 1st Trench Mortar with the I Corps, AEF, at St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne offensives in 1918. During World War II he commanded the 10th Coast Artillery; Atlantic Coast Artillery Brigade, Caribbean Defense Command; 57th Antiaricraft Artillery Brigade; Antiaircraft Artillery Training Center. He retired in August 1949.
