Scope and Contents Documents, approximately 100 items, from the career of Gilbert L. Newbold. The papers are primarily concerned with Newbold's career with the U.S. Information Agency and Voice of America in S.E. Asia during the 1950's and 1960's, and include letters and memos concerning the VOA operation in South Vietnam. Other items include his military personnel records and documents from his State Department assignments.

The early letters covers his training as a Field Artillery officer at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma (1942-1944) and other U. S. bases, including Laurinburg-Maxton Army Air Base (Glider School) and Ft.
