Scope and Contents Original drawings by three notable cartoonists created for inclusion in the "It's an Outrage" section of the 1959 VMI yearbook. The three artists produced VMI-themed versions of the comic strips Dennis the Menace, Steve Canyon, and Beetle Bailey.
Contents Note The collection consists of one ring binder scrapbook containing clippings, correspondence, and programs related to the establishment of the first varsity lacrosse team at VMI, 1948-1950; 9 photographs of the team and team members. The items were donated by team member Francis (Frank) L. Boehm, VMI Class of 1950B. The collection also contains miscellaneous related correspondence [5 items] donated by Walter L. Richards, VMI Class of 1941.
Scope and Contents Scrapbook compiled by VMI Cadet Lomax Gwathmey, documenting his cadetship. Includes photographs of the Class of 1948 Ring Figure; President Dwight D. Eisenhower greeting VMI Glee Club members; scenes from everyday cadet life; programs, clippings, and other memorabilia. Also includes 2 photographs dating from Gwathmey's tour of duty in Vietnam.
Scope and Contents "Mardi Gras" (20th Century Fox, 1958) was the second movie to feature VMI (the first was "Brother Rat; see MS 0005). Included in the collection are two scripts (first draft and shooting final), and ca. 150 still black and white photos from the production, and other memorablia relating to the movie.

Scope and Contents Superintendent's correspondence relating to the filming of the movie Mardi Gras" (20th Century Fox, 1958). It was the second movie to feature VMI (the first was "Brother Rat). Contains correspondence from Frank McCarthy (Class of 1933), then Director of Public Relations for 20th Century Fox).
Scope and Contents Miscellaneous papers of Robert N. Smith, including ca. 10 items (photos, letters, unit newspapers) dating from his service overseas in World War II (Company M, 255th Infantry Regiment, 63rd Division); cadet scrapbook, largely newspaper clippings, dating from return to VMI 1946-1950.
